Medal of Honor BOOKING!!!…and GW fitting

Posted on January 30, 2010

What a friggin’ start to 2010!!!

I just booked a voice-over gig on the video game, Medal of Honor!  This is an amazing franchise and I can’t wait to record!  Another war game…I don’t know what it is with my screaming/battle voice?!?!  Whatever it is works, I guess.  I’d love to get some cartoons or commercials on the VO shelf, too, but I ain’t looking a gift horse in the mouth!!!  Woohoo!!!  I record on 2/12.  Check back around then for the nitty gritty.

In GW (Ghost Whisperer) news, I had my fitting on Thursday.  Everyone was soooo nice to me.  They asked me what I thought the character would wear, and were really receptive to my input.  I even got to wear my character’s shoes home so I could “break them in.”  I saw the casting associate who was part of booking me on the job and she gave me a big hug.  It felt great.

But I have to tell a story…when I first came to L.A., I lived with my friend Josh and later Sean.  The apartment was at Moorpark and Vineland on the 2nd floor, and it faced Universal City.  There was a huge sign.  We used to post up out on the porch (more of a ledge, actually) and wonder if we’d ever get over there…into Universal City…it seemed so close, yet so far away.

For the fitting, I was given a pass to drive onto the Universal lot. (You don’t get to for auditions, you park at a structure and walk in…you get treated so much better after you book!)  All of these Universal tour trams were driving by, people on bicycles, people in costumes…it was a madhouse!  As I drove through…feeling so tiny and humbled at all of my heroes that had done the same…I couldn’t help but recall that first year I was in L.A….on that stoop…wondering if I’d ever get in there.

Guys, I got in.  And it was AWESOME!!!

Thanks for reading!!!

I BOOKED A GUEST STAR ROLE ON GHOST WHISPERER!!!!

Posted on January 24, 2010

Okay, so, I’m peeing my pants and want to tell you all about it…but first, I just have to comment on how hilarious it is to me that so many of you thought I was serious that the real Conan O’Brien commented on my last blog.  True, the comment came from someone calling themselves Conan O’Brien, and no, I didn’t recognize that person’s email address, but seriously folks…

It was sad watching him go from the Tonight Show, but the chances that the real Conan commented on my blog is like a bajillion to 1.  Thanks for thinking that, though.  And if the real Conan wanted to please stand up, I promise I wouldn’t divulge his/her identity to the rest of our readers unless permission was granted.

That being said…I BOOKED A GUEST STAR ROLE ON THE GHOST WHISPERER!!!  This is huge…massive…a tantamount shot in the arm for my career.  Guest Star roles (more than one scene in the show and probably shoots more than one day) are more meaty than Co-Star roles (Usually only one day of shooting one scene with just a few lines).  I did a Co-Star on The District awhile back you can see on the video page.  NEVER a Guest Star!!!  This is soooo awesome!  It’s comparable to “22″ the pilot I did for Comedy Central…maybe better.  This looks GREAT on a resume.  My managers realize that I have, well, at least some talent, and they’re not backing a nag in the race.

Anyway, I’m on hold to shoot Jan. 26-Feb. 2, and don’t worry….you’ll be the first to know when the episode airs.  I’ve got a scene with Jennifer Love-Hewitt and Jaime Kennedy, too!  I don’t want to say much more or give anything else away.  It’ll be a surprise!

However, I do want to say how blessed I feel, humbled, and thankful.  I really just can’t believe it.  Sheer joy.  So thanks for your thoughts and prayers so much, and have one for me wherever you are!!!

Off to a great start!

Posted on January 21, 2010

As I sat to write this, literally, no BS…I got this comment via email from “Conan O’Brien”….”Hey, your blog has not been updated in 2 1/2 months what’s the deal? I want to know whats going on. Love the blog, get it going Lowe.”

I was going to fix breakfast and blog later, but I can’t ignore Conan.  Even if just for my college years when he used to make me cackle in the wee hours of the morning and used to be good…kinda like the Simpsons when he used to write for them.

conan_obrien_laI digress…Hello People!!!  Welcome to 2010!  I’m a bit of a perfectionist and there’s a couple of things I wanted to fix on the site before blogging again…namely the gallery page and upload the Comedy Central pilot “22″, a couple of shorts I did, and newer commercials.  But thanks to Conan for the swift kick in the ass…

Cause it’s been off to a great start!!!  I’ll begin by saying no bookings….yet.  But the opportunities have never before been seen by yours truly.  These guys at RPA (my manager) are legit.

Commercials…Got to a callback for Carl’s Jr. the first week of January, no avail.  A Keystone Light campaign that’s callback isn’t until the end of the month…so there’s still hope.  And a Nationwide Insurance campaign…you want to hear that word, campaign…it means you could be the next Verizon guy.  Anyway, with Nationwide, there were B-list T.V. stars in there…(the smarmy Dr. from Empty Nest, the coach from the Wonder Years, etc, etc.)…and those guys are in there 60’s…plus we were up against auditions from New York and Chicago, too!  They had no clue what they wanted…it happens.  Harumph.  Oh well.

Voice Over…Still recording 2-3 times a week…still frustrated and happy.  Best audition so far of 2010 was for an animated Fox pilot (for Sunday nights) called Brickleberry about these park rangers.  Script was hilarious.  Dream come true…Fox’s animation domination.  One day, Lord willin’!

Film/T.V….CHECK THIS OUT!!!  Save the best for last!!!  Today, in a few hours, I have 2 T.V. auditions!!!  One is for a Co-Star on this new Christian Slater show on ABC called The Forgotten, and another one is for a Guest Star for The Ghost Whisperer.  The Ghost Whisperer is straight to Producers which is awesome.  You’ll recall I had an audition with them a few months back.  I’m hoping they liked my work, and know that they don’t have to “pre-read” me anymore…that I can cut it going straight to producers!!!  That’s the hope.  The Forgotten is a read for the casting director.  Crack-head role in The Forgotten…Seth Rogan everyman-type in The Ghost Whisperer…anyway…totally excited…please say some prayers for me!!!

AND…

I auditioned for the lead in a pilot for TNT last week called “Uncle Nigel”.  I went in last (they’d been seeing people from 10 am-6 pm…and yeah, I was 6 pm), but felt pretty good about the read.  I got coaching from my acting teacher (Tom Irwin) for this one.  This is a HUGE audition…we’ll see.  Sometimes I think that they’re definitely going to use some kinda star for a role like this…but who knows.  Anyway, my acting teacher passed on some great advice…”Think of your audition as your one chance to play the role, don’t expect any more, go in and play it for yourself and not to please anyone else.”

I LOVE that!!!

I need to go prepare…get into character…thanks for continuing on this journey with me…and for reading…Blessings to you and yours in the New Year!

and Conan…thanks.
